Boeing sales remain stalled amid questions about plane safety
·1 min
Boeing reported weak new plane orders as it tackles safety and production problems with its commercial jets. In May, the company received orders for only four new jets, all for the 787 Dreamliner, with none for the troubled 737 Max. This is a decrease from the seven orders in April and significantly lower than the 69 jets ordered in May 2023. Year-to-date, Boeing has taken orders for 142 jets, a 36% decline compared to the same period last year. The company’s deliveries also suffered, with 24 jets delivered in May, down from 50 in May 2024. Boeing’s shares fell more than 3% on this news and have declined around 30% this year.
